(The ministers shall meet the body at the entrance of the church)
PRIEST: With faith in Jesus Christ, we receive the body of our brother/sister, [Deceased's Name], for burial. Let us pray with confidence to God, the Giver of life, that He will raise him/her to perfection in the company of the saints.
(Silence may be kept, after which the minister says:)
PRIEST: I have set God always before me: for He is on my right hand, therefore I shall not fail.
PEOPLE: Wherefore my heart was glad, and my soul rejoices: my flesh also shall rest in hope;

Processional Hymn -- A&M 295
1. Children of the heavenly King,
As we journey, sweetly sing;
Sing your Savior's worthy praise,
Glorious in His works and ways.
"I am the resurrection and the life," says the Lord. "He that believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die." (John 11:25–26)
The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Deut. 33:27)
They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. (Rev. 7:16)
2. We are traveling home to God In the way the fathers trod; They are happy now, and we soon their happiness shall see.
For whether we live, we live unto the Lord, and whether we die, we die unto the Lord; whether we live therefore or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and rose again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. (Rom. 14:8–9)
Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions. (John 14:1–2)
I know that my Redeemer lives, and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. And though this body is destroyed, yet in my flesh shall I see God; whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not as a stranger. (Job 19:25–27)
3. Lift your eyes, ye sons of light,Zion's city is in sight;There our endless home shall be,
There our Lord we soon shall see.
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 8:38–39)
"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors." (Rev. 14:13)
5. Lord, obediently we go,
Gladly leaving all below;
Only Thou our leader be,
And we will still follow Thee.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. (Matt. 5:4)

Hymn -- A&M 167
1. O worship the King, All glorious above,
O gratefully sing, His power and His love;
Our shield and defender, The Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendour, And girded with praise.
2. O tell of His might, O sing of His grace,
Whose robe is the light, Whose canopy space;
His chariots of wrath the deep clouds form,
And dark is His path on the wings of the storm.
3. The earth with its store Of wonders untold,
Almighty, Your power Has founded of old,
Established it fast by A changeless decree,
And round it has cast Like a mantle the sea.
4. The bountiful care, What tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, It shines in the light;
It streams from the hills, It descends to the plain,
And sweetly distills in The dew and the rain.
5. Frail children of dust, And feeble as frail,
In You do we trust, God, who never fails;
Your mercies how tender, How firm to the end,
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer and Friend.
6. O measureless Might, Ineffable Love,
While angels delight To praise You above,
Your humbler creation, Though feeble their lays,
With true adoration Shall sing to Your praise. Amen!

Psalm 90
1. LORD, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
2. Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
3. You turn man back into dust and say, "Return, O children of men."
4. For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it passes by, or as a watch in the night.
5. You have swept them away like a flood; they fall asleep: in the morning they are like grass which sprouts anew.
6. In the morning it flourishes and sprouts anew; toward evening it fades and withers away.
7. For we have been consumed by Your anger; and by Your wrath we have been dismayed.
8. You have placed our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your presence.
9. For all our days have declined in Your fury; we have finished our years like a sigh.
10. As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; for soon it is gone, and we fly away.
11. Who understands the power of Your anger and Your fury according to the fear that is due You?
12. So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom.
13. Do return, O LORD! How long will it be? And be sorry for Your servants.
14. O satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15. Make us glad according to the days You have afflicted us, and the years we have seen evil.
16. Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your majesty to their children.
17. Let the favor of the LORD our God be upon us: and confirm for us the work of our hands; yes, confirm the work of our hands.

The Epistle -- Revelation 7:13-17
Then one of the elders responded, saying to me, "These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?" I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. For this reason they are before the throne of God, and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them. They will no longer hunger nor thirst, nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any scorching heat; for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes."

The Gospel -- John 6:37-40
(When the lesson is announced, the people say:)
PEOPLE: Glory to Christ our Savior.
"Everything that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and anyone who comes to Me I will never drive away; for I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I should lose nothing of all that He has given Me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is indeed the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life; and I will raise him up on the last day."
PRIEST: This is the Gospel of Christ.

Hymn for Sermon -- Will You Be Counted
SERMON BY THE BISHOP
INTERCESSION
PRIEST: Lord Jesus Christ, by Your death and victory over sin, You have opened the gates of heaven for all who put their trust in You. Grant to Your church in paradise and on earth Your light and peace. Lord, hear our prayer:
PEOPLE: And let our cry come unto You.
PRIEST: Let us pray for all the people of God; that all who are saved by the death and resurrection of Christ may die to sin and rise to newness of life. Lord, hear our prayer:
PEOPLE: And let our cry come unto You.
PRIEST: Let us pray that in the midst of things we cannot understand, the Lord will help us to believe and trust in the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, and the resurrection to life everlasting. Lord, hear our prayer:
PEOPLE: And let our cry come unto You.
PRIEST: Let us pray for all who mourn the death of their loved ones, especially the family of [Deceased's Name], that they may know God's presence with them and be comforted in their bereavement; that they be filled with God's hope and peace. Lord, hear our prayer:
PEOPLE: And let our cry come unto You.
PRIEST: Let us pray for all who are still in our pilgrimage and walk as yet by faith, that the Holy Spirit may lead us in holiness and righteousness all the days of our life. Lord, hear our prayer:
PEOPLE: And let our cry come unto You.
PRIEST: Let us pray for all who traveled, that God will grant them safe journey, bless and guide them from the dangers of the road. Lord, hear our prayer:
PEOPLE: And let our cry come unto You.
PRIEST: Let us pray for all here present; that our hope be anchored on Christ, and that one day God may reunite us all in His kingdom. Lord, hear our prayer:
PEOPLE: And let our cry come unto You.

Proper Preface
And now we give You thanks because through Him You have given us the hope of glorious resurrection, so that although death comes to us all, yet we rejoice in the promise of eternal life. For Your people, life is changed, not taken away; and when our mortal flesh is laid aside, an everlasting dwelling place is made ready for us in heaven.
Therefore, with Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we proclaim Your great and glorious name, forever praising You and saying:

ALL: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of Your glory. Hosanna in the highest!
PRIEST: Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.
PEOPLE: Hosanna in the highest!
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
PRIEST: Accept our praises, Heavenly Father, through Your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; and as we follow His example and obey His command, grant that by the power of the Holy Spirit these gifts of bread and wine may be to us His Body and Blood; Who, in the same night that He was betrayed, took bread and gave You thanks; He broke it and gave it to His disciples, saying: "Take, eat; this is My Body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same way, after supper, He took the cup and gave You thanks; He gave it to them, saying: "Drink this, all of you; this is My Blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:
PEOPLE: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
PRIEST: Therefore, Heavenly Father, we remember His offering of Himself made once for all upon the cross, and proclaim His mighty resurrection and glorious ascension. As we look for His coming in glory, we celebrate with this bread and this cup His one perfect sacrifice. Accept through Him, our Great High Priest, this our sacrifice of thanks and praise; and as we eat and drink these holy gifts in the presence of Your divine Majesty, renew us with Your Spirit, inspire us with Your love, and unite us in the body of Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through Him, and with Him, and in Him, by the power of the Holy Spirit, with all who stand before You in earth and in heaven, we worship You, Father Almighty, in songs of everlasting praise.
PEOPLE: Blessing and honor and glory and power be Yours forever and ever. Amen!

Communion Hymns
Hymn A&M 346 / I.H.B. 393
1. "For ever with the Lord!" Amen, so let it be; Life from the dead is in that word—Is immortality. Here in the body pent, Absent from Him I roam, Yet nightly pitch my moving tent, A day's march nearer home.
2. My Father's house on high, Home of the soul, how near! At times to faith's foreseeing eye Thy golden gates appear! Ah! Then my spirit faints To reach the land I love, The bright inheritance of saints, Jerusalem above.
3. "For ever with the Lord!" Father, if 'tis Thy will, Uphold Thou me, and I shall stand; Fight, and I must prevail.
4. So when my last breath Shall rend the veil in twain, By death I shall escape from death, And life eternal gain. Knowing as I am known, How shall I love that word, And oft repeat before the throne, "For ever with the Lord!"
Hymn SS&S 338 / I.H.B. 209
1. What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus; What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
(Refrain) Oh! Precious is the flow That makes me white as snow; No other fount I know, Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
2. For my cleansing this I see—Nothing but the blood of Jesus; For my pardon this my plea—Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
3. This is all my hope and peace—Nothing but the blood of Jesus; This is all my righteousness—Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Hymn A&M 206 / I.H.B. 410
1. Jesus, still lead on Till rest be won; And although the way be cheerless, We will follow calm and fearless. Guide us by Thy hand To our fatherland.
2. If the way be drear, If the foe be near, Let no faithless fear o'ertake us, Let no faith and hope forsake us; For though many a foe, To our home we go.
3. Jesus, still lead on Till our rest be won; Heavenly Leader, still direct us, Still support, control, protect us, Till we safely stand In our fatherland.
Hymn SS&S 1200 / I.H.B. 449
1. Over the river faces I see, Fair as the morning, looking for me; Free from their sorrow, grief, and despair, Waiting and watching patiently there.
(Refrain) Looking this way, yes, looking this way? Loved ones are waiting, looking this way? Fair as the morning, bright as the day, Dear ones in glory, looking this way.
2. Father and mother, safe in the vale, Watch for the boatman, wait for the sail, Bearing their loved ones over the tide Into the harbor, near to their side.
3. Brother and sister gone to that clime, Wait for the others coming sometime; Safe with the angels, whiter than snow, Watching for dear ones waiting below.

Graveside Hymn -- SS&S 298
1. God be with you till we meet again;
By His counsel guide, uphold you,
With His sheep securely fold you;
God be with you till we meet again.
(Refrain) Till we meet, till we meet,
Till we meet at Jesus' feet;
Till we meet, till we meet,
God be with you till we meet again.
2. God be with you till we meet again;
'Neath His wings protecting hide you,
Daily manna still provide you;
God be with you till we meet again.
3. God be with you till we meet again;
When life's perils thick confound you,
Put His arms unfailing round you;
God be with you till we meet again.
4. God be with you till we meet again;
Keep love's banner floating o'er you,
Smite death's threatening wave before you;
God be with you till we meet again.

Consecration of the Grave & Committal
O God, whose blessed Son was laid in a sepulcher, consecrate, we pray You, this grave, that Your son/daughter, [Deceased's Name], whose body is to be buried here, may come to Your heavenly kingdom; in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen!
BURIAL & COMMITTAL RITES
PRIEST: As a father pities his own children, even so the Lord is merciful unto them that fear Him. For He knows whereof we are made; He remembers that we are but dust. For as the wind goes over it, it is gone, and the place thereof shall know it no more. But the merciful goodness of the Lord endures forever and ever upon them that fear Him.
(The corpse is lowered, and the priest says:)
Forasmuch as it has pleased Almighty God of His great mercy to take unto Himself the soul of our brother/sister here departed, we commit his/her body to the ground:
Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust;
In sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ, who shall change our low estate that it may be like unto His glorious body, according to the mighty working whereby He is able to subdue all things to Himself.
Then shall be said:
I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me: "Write: From henceforth blessed are the dead who die in the Lord; 'Yes,' says the Spirit, 'for they rest from their labors.'"
(Immediately after the committal, the priest says:)
LET US PRAY
PRIEST: Grant, O God, that while we lament the departure of this Your child, [Deceased's Name], we may always remember that we are most certain to follow him/her. Give us grace to prepare for that hour by a good life, that we may not be taken by sudden, unwanted death, but be ever watching so that when You shall come, we may with the bridegroom enter into glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
