Be the first to leave a message for the Aluya family.Henry Okezi Aluya was born in 1948 into the Oyede family of Aberuo-Aviara in the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. He grew up in a community that valued hard work, faith, and family — values he would carry with him throughout his life.
His early education began at Abawa Primary School, Aberuo-Aviara. He then attended James Welch Grammar School in Emevor, where he completed his secondary education and laid the foundation for the distinguished career and character that would define his years ahead.
Pa Henry began his professional life in education, serving as a teacher at Ofagbe Technical School from 1969 to 1970. His ability, diligence, and ambition led him to a remarkable opportunity when he joined Elf Nigeria Limited in 1972.
He remained with the company — which evolved over the decades into TotalEnergies EP Nigeria — for over three decades, retiring in 2004. His career of 32 years in the Nigerian oil and gas industry was a source of immense pride for his family, his community, and everyone who knew him.
Pa Henry was a devoted member of the Anglican Church. His faith was not a Sunday observance but a daily practice — the foundation of how he lived, how he led his family, and how he treated others. He was active in his church community throughout his life, and his Christian values underpinned everything he touched.
Pa Henry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his nine children, who are spread across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada — a diaspora that is itself a testament to the doors his dedication and sacrifice opened:
Pa Henry Okezi Aluya passed away on 7 July 2026 at Lily Hospitals, Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, aged 78 years. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and love that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
